One Global Day is an annual event that students at Global Concepts Charter High School look forward to every year. Instead of their usual classes, students spend an entire day exploring the world through visitors who come to the school to share about all the amazing careers available once they graduate from high school.
The day begins with a career fair from 8am-10:30am featuring the different trades, NYS Troopers, Moog, Continental School of Beauty, auto body repair, Northland Workforce Training Center, and the military. Local unions representing electrical, laborers, bricklayers, plumbers/steamfitters, and operating engineers are among the many participants.
Additionally during the 8am-10:30am timeframe, there will be special activities and workshops hosted by businesses from Western New York. Roswell Cancer Institute will feature a karyotyping activity, WNY STEM will do coding with students, there will be an entrepreneur panel made up of local entrepreneurs discussing business ownership with students, UB students from the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) will practice job interviewing skills with the students, and more!
For the remainder of the day, the students will participate in student vs staff events, teambuilding, and self-care activities such as yoga and puzzle time.
