The English as a New Language (ENL) department is designed for students who have been identified as English Language Learners (ELL). All students who participate come from homes where a language other than English is spoken.
Our ENL team works in the regular classroom and in small group settings to improve and enhance the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills of our ELLs.
Global Concepts Charter School (GCCS) offers diagnosis of, instruction in and assessment of English language skills for all students who are identified as Limited English Proficient (LEP). The aim of the English as a New Language (ENL) program is to assure that all LEP students have the same opportunities to achieve the state's education goals as the non-LEP students in the school. It is furthermore the goal of GCCS to ensure that all LEP students have the same access to the school's programs and services as do the rest of the school's students. The underlying philosophy of the ESL program is consistent with GCCS' themes of global education, character education, and family education.
